TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Health has announced plans to launch a free health check-up program for the Indonesian public in early 2025, with a tentative start date between mid-January and early February.
“The plan is to launch the program around mid-January or early February 2025,” Aji, an Officer from the Ministry of Health's Communication and Public Service Bureau, told Tempo on Thursday, January 12, 2024.
According to him, the Ministry of Health is still finalizing the preparations for this program, including the service system, the healthcare workers, and necessary medical equipment. In addition, the Ministry is developing comprehensive technical guidelines for the implementation of the free health check-up program.
“We are currently in the preparation stage for the service rollout,” Aji said.
The Ministry of Health will soon conduct nationwide socialization sessions to inform the public and healthcare providers about the free health check-up program. These sessions will be conducted in collaboration with health offices at the provincial, district, and city levels.
Previously, the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, announced that free health check-ups would be conducted on a regular basis, either annually or biannually. These comprehensive check-ups will include vital health assessments such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid levels, as well as screenings for other potential health risks.
Hasan stated that the free health check-up program aims to cover 52 million Indonesians in 2025. Furthermore, the government has set a target of providing free health check-ups to 200 million Indonesians over the next five years, or during the office term of President Prabowo Subianto.
