TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Directorate General of Immigration has arrested 12 Vietnamese nationals who were allegedly engaging in prostitution activities while in Indonesia on tourist visas. These individuals were apprehended at an entertainment venue in Muara Karang, North Jakarta.

Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement (Dirwasdakim), Yuldi Yusma, revealed that the 12 Vietnamese nationals had been working as commercial sex workers (PSKs) at the entertainment venue for approximately one month.

“After examining their visas, they entered Indonesia and engaged in these activities for approximately one month,” he said at the Directorate General of Immigration Office in Kuningan, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

Yuldi explained that the arrests were made following numerous public reports. Subsequent investigations conducted by the Immigration authorities revealed that the 12 Vietnamese nationals had entered Indonesia using visa-free entry (BVK) and visa-on-arrival (VKSK) permits for tourism purposes. However, they instead engaged in prostitution activities.

Yuldi disclosed that the rate charged for their services was Rp5.6 million each. “That is the fee for a single service,” he added.

He also claimed that authorities have yet to identify the individuals responsible for facilitating the entry and employment of these Vietnamese nationals in the prostitution trade within Indonesia. "We are still working to uncover the broader network involved in this operation,” Yuldi stated.

The Directorate General of Immigration has determined that the 12 Vietnamese nationals have violated immigration laws by misusing their visas. As a consequence, they will face administrative sanctions, including deportation and inclusion in the immigration blacklist. Yuldi said that the deportation order would be in effect for two years.

According to Article 122 of the Immigration Law, these 12 Vietnamese citizens will be subject to deportation proceedings. “These 12 Vietnamese citizens will be deported from Indonesia,” Yuldi said.
