TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian boxing legend, Ellyas Pical, is being cared for in the hospital. He requires intensive care or treatment in the ICU.
News about the IBF Junior Bantam Junior or Super Flyweight world champion in 1985 circulated on social media X on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The social media account @Dirgantara003 uploaded a photo of Ellyas Pical lying in a hospital bed with other medical equipment commonly found in the ICU. Ellyas Pical is said to be receiving treatment at the Harapan Kita Hospital in Jakarta.
"Please pray for our brother, former world boxing champion Elly Pical, who is being treated in the ICU at Harapan Kita Hospital, JakBar, Monday, 24, 2025, we hope God grants healing, Amen," wrote the account.
In another post, Ellyas Pical is said to have suffered from coronary heart disease and has undergone the installation of two heart rings or stents.
As of now, Ellyas Pical's family has not provided information regarding the condition of the former boxer known as The Exocet.
The news of Ellyas Pical being hospitalized due to a heart attack is not the first. Previously, he was also hospitalized in February 2017 for the same illness.
In 2025, Ellyas Pical is reported to have been hospitalized since February 20, as cited from KONI's official website. Several KONI leaders such as the Chairman of Human Resources, General, and Jahpelor Poniwati, the Chairman of Sports Health, Rochmulyati, the Chairman of Data Collection and Processing (Pullata) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Iwan Kurniawan, as well as the KONI Central health team, visited the hospital where Ellyas Pical is being treated.
