TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in The Hague, the Netherlands on November 28, 2024, held two annual events titled "Indonesia Now" at the Indonesia House Amsterdam. The event was organized in collaboration between the KBRI in The Hague, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dutch Culture after previously being held in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
KBRI in The Hague explained that Indonesia Now serves as an effective open discussion platform, bridging the exchange of views between stakeholders in Indonesia and the Netherlands with a focus on future-oriented cooperation. Academics, policymakers, community representatives, as well as business people and creative workers, contributed to the event. They shared views and explored various potentials and examples of real cooperation for the advancement of the relationship between the two countries.
"The organization of 'Indonesia Now' this year at the Indonesia House Amsterdam is not a coincidence, but a reflection that this event is also a bridge that brings Indonesia closer to the Netherlands," said the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Netherlands, Mayerfas.
On the same occasion, Director for Asia and Oceania at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dominique Kuhling, emphasized the need to continue implementing the comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and the Netherlands into various work programs that bring tangible benefits to both countries.
During the plenary session, both parties discussed the latest developments in the new government policies in Indonesia and the Netherlands, as well as joint efforts that can be taken to strengthen bilateral relations.
Furthermore, the event included separate parallel discussion sessions on three different themes: film production collaboration; cooperation in repatriating historical artifacts through research and capacity building; and education cooperation with a focus on advancing universities in Indonesia, especially outside of Java with limited resources.
The Indonesia Now event concluded with a presentation from 'What If Lab' on the results of inspirational collaboration to provide innovative spatial solutions in Kampung Kunir Jakarta and its implementation in Tarwewijk Rotterdam. Participants also appreciated the implementation of Indonesia Now 2024, addressing current issues and encouraging concrete cooperation. They hope that Indonesia Now will continue to be held in the future with new and interesting themes.
