TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Men's Volleyball National Team achieved victory in their first match of the SEA V League 2025 leg 2 after a narrow win over the Philippines with a score of 3-2 (25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-8) at GOR International Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
In this match, the team led by Jeff Jiang initially became complacent after taking the lead in the first game. After bouncing back, Jasen Natanael Kilanta and his teammates finally managed to rise to victory in a five-game battle.
The national team was initially trailing 1-2 in the third set. Fortunately, they managed to take the lead in the last two sets, turning the score around to 3-2.
Assistant coach of the Indonesian men's volleyball national team, Erwin Rusni, revealed that his players were still inconsistent in their performance. It is hoped that after evaluating the team's performance, the Indonesian men's volleyball national team can improve in the next match.
"We observed that the players' accuracy in this match was somewhat lacking. We then made player rotations and it eventually worked well. Alfin Daniel, who played in this match, performed very well because he played freely and lifted the team's spirits," Erwin said as quoted from the PBVSI's official statement.
In line with Erwin, national team player Fahri Septian Putratama was pleased with the coach's strategy in this match. The entry of Alfin Daniel and Rivan Nurmulki made a difference on the field.
"The entry of Alfin and Rivan changed the pace of the game. The opponents seemed to have difficulty containing Alfin, who played today for the first time. Another player, Rivan, was also on fire, thus able to change the course of the match," Fahri said.
In this match, Rivan topped the score with 18 points. Fahri added 17 points. Boy Arnes also shone with an additional 15 points. Meanwhile, Hendra Kurniawan concluded with 11 points.
In another match, Vietnam kicked off the second round with a victory against Cambodia with a score of 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21).

4:00 PM WIB: Cambodia vs Thailand
7:00 PM WIB: Vietnam vs Indonesia.
