TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police (Polri) recently showcased 30 robots during the 17th Bhayangkara Day parade at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The display included 10 humanoid robots, 13 robodogs, and seven bomb disposal robots.

The Police's General Inspector of Public Supervision, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, explained that each robot serves a distinct purpose. "Humanoids focus on public interaction and education," Dedi said in a release on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

Meanwhile, robodogs are designed for monitoring complex areas and detecting hazards, while bomb disposal robots are aimed at handling explosive materials in high-risk locations. Dedi noted that all these robots are currently in a demonstration and socialization phase until 2026.

The second phase will involve personnel training and collaborative research with partner universities. This will be followed by a final phase of limited trials at Vehicle Document Registration Offices, Integrated Police Service Centers, and information services at police headquarters or regional police offices.

Therefore, Dedi emphasized that the robots' presence in Tuesday's parade does not mean they will be immediately deployed to assist police duties. "We are adjusting field needs with technology. Robots are strategic partners, not replacements for human roles," he asserted.

The police displayed the humanoid robots and robodogs during the 79th Bhayangkara anniversary parade at the National Monument in Jakarta. Tempo observed that the police presented these robots in front of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Agus Subiyanto, and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Head of Public Information Bureau of the Police's Public Relations Division, Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, clarified that the humanoid robots are capable of various activities such as running, marching, and saluting, complete with police attributes like berets and vests. Truno claimed that the introduction of these robots reflects the Indonesian National Police's commitment to adopting modern technological advancements.
