TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor-elect Pramono Anung says he’s grateful since rival gubernatorial candidates Ridwan Kamil-Suswono and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana backed out on the plan to challenge election results at the Constitutional Court. According to him, this situation is advantageous for collaboration on improving Jakarta.
“I personally am grateful to running pairs 01 and 02 for not submitting the [election] lawsuit to the Constitutional Court,” Pramono said when met at Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 12, 2024.
The PDIP politician reckons the Jakarta election period has been concluded, and the election itself went smoothly. He hopes to be able to carry out the mandate as a gubernatorial hopeful in Jakarta for the 2024-2029 period.
Pramono also underscores the current economic and political situation at a global scale, mentioning the turmoil and pressure of foreign politics that will sooner or later affect the people of Jakarta.
The former Cabinet Secretary considers his victory in the regional elections to bring changes necessary to face these conditions. Pramono, however, did not explicitly explain what he meant by the global scale events.
“If the politics fail to improve swiftly, there will be consequences to face. Therefore, I am thankful. This year’s Jakarta gubernatorial election has recorded the lowest level of political tension,” Pramono said.
The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) confirmed the results of the Jakarta elections on Sunday. Pramono Anung and his running partner Rano Karno won the most votes. The PDIP candidate pair won 2,183,239, or 50.07 percent of the vote.
