TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Directorate of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) summoned the developers of the digital game Koin Jagat on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The questioning was done online as the developers were abroad.
Komdigi Deputy Minister Nezar Patria said the developers would review their game patterns after receiving complaints that the app users were damaging public facilities.
"The developers are reviewing and will probably change the game patterns so as [the players] not to commit destruction," Nezar said when met after the Semangat Awal Tahun 2025 event in South Jakarta on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
He said that Koin Jagat had good intentions through innovation and creativity in its application. However, many users do not have the education to understand that what they do can damage public facilities. The developers also agreed to create newer and more educational programs. "It's also more constructive. So it's not destructive anymore and so on," Nezar said.
Komdigi will not yet revoke the license for this application during the development process. "Not yet, we'll see how it develops, do not hinder the innovation and creativity of the nation's children," said Nezar.
The digital treasure hunt game Koin Jagat is currently going viral on TikTok, especially among young people. Koin Jagat is part of the "Treasure Hunt" game available on the Jagat application, a digital map-based social platform. This game invites users to search for and collect virtual coins scattered in various locations in the real world.
This coin hunt game is played in open spaces or public areas such as city parks, town squares, and other public places. The collected coins can then be exchanged for cash prizes, the value of which varies depending on the type of coin found. The coins include bronze coins worth between Rp300,000 and Rp1,000,000, while silver coins are estimated to have a higher value, although the details have not been released. Gold coins are the most valuable with the highest prize value.
Behind the excitement, several problems emerged. Some videos that went viral on social media showed several damaged facilities, allegedly caused by users of the digital game Koin Jagat.
