TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The membership structure of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) for the period 2024-2028 has been formed. Chairperson of Kompolnas, Budi Gunawan, said their main agenda after inauguration is to improve the organization and oversee the performance of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in combating online gambling.
"We will carry out organizational improvements that focus on the president's priority program, namely supervision on the handling of online gambling eradication," said Budi at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Monday, November 11, 2024.
He also stated that the other tasks for the new members of Kompolnas are to oversee the police in handling cases such as corruption, smuggling, cybercrime, and narcotics. Budi mentioned the need for modernization of the work methods and supervision by Kompolnas. "There is also a need to develop a public complaint system," he said.
Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Members of the National Police Commission for the 2024-2028 term on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The inauguration was based on Presidential Decree Number 80/M 2024 concerning the Termination and Appointment of Membership of the National Police Commission.
In the decree, Prabowo appointed the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, as the Chairman of Kompolnas. Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, held the position of Vice Chairman of Kompolnas.
Prabowo also inaugurated seven members of Kompolnas. They are the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, Retired Police Inspector General Arief Wicaksono Sudiutomo, Retired Police Inspector General Ida Oetari Poernamasasi, Supardi Hamid, Gufron, Muhammad Choirul Anam, and Yusuf.
Gufron was previously known as an activist who led Imparsial, while Anam had previously served as a commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM). Furthermore, Supardi is known as a lecturer or criminologist at the Police Science College (PTIK).
