TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for a bilateral meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday morning, November 6. Wong arrived at the Merdeka Palace in the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta shortly before 10:00 am. He was greeted by children in traditional attire waving small Indonesian flags.
PM Wong was received by President Prabowo and greeted with a state ceremony and 19-gun salute. The two leaders then introduced each other's delegations from their respective countries, who also attended the ceremony.
The Indonesian delegation accompanying President Prabowo included Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo.
Prabowo and Wong then took a photo together and signed the state guest book at the Credential Room, Merdeka Palace, before proceeding to the Jepara Room for a one-on-one meeting.
There has been no official statement from the palace on the bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and Prime Minister Wong. Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement that the Prime Minister's visit to Jakarta is to reinforce Singapore's commitment to further cement its long-standing friendship with Indonesia.
"We are providing an opportunity for leaders from both sides to exchange views on how to improve bilateral relations," the official statement on November 5 read.
Premier Wong was accompanied by Minister for Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Manpower and Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry Dr. Tan See Leng, and Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Minister of State for Health Rahayu Mahzam.
