TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and members of the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI) launched the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center/IASC (Financial Transaction Fraud Handling Center) at the OJK office in Jakarta on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Executive Head of Monitoring Behavior of Financial Services Business Actors, Education, and Consumer Protection, said that IASC is a coordination forum between OJK, members of Satgas PASTI, and financial services industry players to quickly address fraud that occurs in the financial sector and serve as a deterrent.

"The establishment of IASC aims to accelerate coordination among financial service providers in handling fraud reports by delaying transactions and blocking fraudulent accounts," she said in an official statement received by Tempo on Friday, November 22, 2024.

After blocking, Friderica said that this forum will identify parties involved in fraud, as well as strive to return the remaining funds to victims and take legal action. Indeed, many people have been victims of fraud or scams in the financial services sector, so action must be taken to address this crime quickly.

"We have allowed this to go on for too long, resulting in the loss of money that may have been saved for decades for retirement, children's education, and so on. We all need to work together synergistically to protect consumers and Indonesian society," she said.

In addition, the forum aims to make it easier for victims to report the fraud they have experienced to ensure a quick and coordinated response. Victims can report fraud cases in the financial sector through the IASC website at http://iasc.ojk.go.id by providing relevant data and evidentiary documents.

Mr. Mahendra Siregar, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the OJK, stated that fraud or scam in the financial sector is a crime that is unlimited in scope and has a significant and widespread impact. Therefore, efforts to address it through the IASC must be made promptly to reduce the potential losses.

"So this is an opportunity to truly strengthen the integrity and confidence of our financial services industry. Let us take positive action in line with the expectations of the public, consumers, and all stakeholders. We believe that everyone will fully support this and ultimately we will always deliver the best to the people, the nation, and our country," Mahendra said.
