TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A project worker, identified as AS, was fatally injured in a clash on Kebon Kacang Road, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The altercation involved local residents and workers involved in a land-clearing project.
"That is correct. There was a clash yesterday between the residents of 11 Kebon Kacang Road and the workers clearing the land," confirmed Tanah Abang Police Chief Adj. Comr. Brig. Gen. Aditya Simanggara on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Aditya said that the confrontation occurred around 3:30 p.m. and reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding between the residents and the workers. During the scuffle, the victim sustained injuries to his legs and the back of his head.
"Our initial suspicion is that the incident was sparked by a misunderstanding, but we are still investigating," Aditya said. He did not provide further details about the nature of the misunderstanding.
The police are actively searching for the perpetrator, and several residents suspected of involvement in the clash are being questioned. "We are still investigating to determine the culprits," Aditya added.
