TEMPO.CO, Pangkalpinang- Bangka Police Resort has named two suspects in the case of kidnapping a mother and baby in a dog cage owned by the palm oil plantation company PT Payung Mitrajaya Mandiri (PMM) located in Maras Senang Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency.

The Bangka Police Chief Police Adjunct Commissioner Toni Sarjaka said the two detained individuals are from the company's management with the initials Y and GM. "The first suspect is GM. After further investigation and based on witness statements, tonight the leader GM with the initial Y was also designated as a suspect. Both have been detained," said Toni on Saturday night, December 7, 2024.

These two suspects are charged under Article 333 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of depriving someone of their freedom with a threat of 8 years imprisonment. "Both are suspected as perpetrators and the people who ordered the kidnapping of the victims," said Toni. The kidnapping originated from allegations of fuel theft allegedly committed by the victim's husband. Company representatives visited the victim's house to find her husband. "As he was not found when searched, his wife and child were taken to the company."

Bangka Belitung Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hendro Pandowo said justice would be ensured for the victims. "We will process it until the case is sent to the prosecutor's office," he said. Investigators have conducted an inquiry and checked the health condition of the victims.

The victims of the kidnapping are Nadya and her one-year-old baby. Nadya stated that the kidnapping was carried out by the company's management after her husband, who worked as a company driver, was accused of stealing diesel. "They said my husband ran away, so I and my child were locked up by the company manager with the help of some security guards," said Nadya.

During the captivity, Nadya and her child were not given food and water. Even when her child cried due to the cold, they were not let out. "Later, my child was taken out and taken by someone to another place," she said. "I was left alone in that cramped room at night. There were a lot of mosquitoes too."
