TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police have arrested two more suspects in the online gambling network case involving employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). This brings the total number of suspects arrested in the case to 26.

Jakarta Metro Police Chief of the Public Relations Division, Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said that two suspects were arrested on November 26 (AA) and November 28 (F alias W alias A), 2024.

"Suspect AA was arrested for his involvement in money laundering. Meanwhile, suspect F acted as an agent for 40 online gambling websites," Ade Ary said in his written statement on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Police also seized several pieces of evidence from the arrests. From AA, investigators secured a cell phone, nine bank books, and cash in various currencies worth Rp724,336,400. Meanwhile, from F alias W alias A, the police seized a cell phone and cash amounting to Rp720 million.

Ade Ary said four suspects were still at large, with the initials J, JH, F, and C. "We are also awaiting the results of the analysis of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) for case development, including tracing assets and proceeds for confiscation and return to the state," he said.

Jakarta Metro Police have now identified 26 people as suspects in the online gambling mafia case. Ten of them are Komdigi employees, 9 are civil servants and one is a Komdigi expert. The suspects are charged with several articles, including gambling and money laundering crimes.

The suspects, who were supposed to block online gambling sites from being accessed by the public in Indonesia, instead protected them and received payments from the site owners.

"So they were tasked to block online gambling sites. They were given access to view online gambling sites and block them," said the head of public relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi in Bekasi on Friday, November 1, 2024.

These suspects admitted to blocking online gambling sites every two weeks. If the site owner does not pay Adhi Kismanto (AK) within two weeks, the site will be blocked. This group charges a fee of Rp8.5 million per site as a security service to prevent it from being blocked.
