President Prabowo Arrives in Indonesia After Working Visit to 6 Countries

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has returned to Indonesia after conducting a working visit or a state visit to several countries since November 8, 2024. Prabowo arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta at approximately 05:00 local time on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

During his first state visit, six countries were visited by the head of state. Among them are China, the United States, Peru, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. In a press release issued by the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo's arrival in the homeland was welcomed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several cabinet ministers.

The ministers present to welcome Prabowo's arrival were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. Several agency heads and officials also attended, such as TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the National Intelligence Agency Herindra.

The first country visited by the head of state was China. There, Prabowo held meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji.

After his visit to the Bamboo Curtain nation, Prabowo continued his working visit to Uncle Sam's country. In the United States, Prabowo met with President Joe Biden, Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, CIA Director William J. Burns, and several members of The United States-Indonesia Society or Usindo.

Shifting slightly to Latin America, Prabowo visited Peru to attend the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation High-Level Conference. During the forum, the head of state stated that Indonesia is committed to promoting open, fair, and rules-based trade.

"I think it's a good opportunity, APEC, yes, we continue a network between leaders in the Pacific," Prabowo said after attending the APEC conference.

In Peru, Prabowo also met with President of the Republic of Peru Dina Boluarte and held bilateral meetings with prime ministers from various countries such as Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Prabowo also visited Brazil to participate in the G-20 Summit and the Indonesia-Brazil Business Forum. During his visit to Brazil, Prabowo also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, and leaders of MIKTA countries (Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Turkey, Australia).

After his visits to the American continent, Prabowo continued his journey to Europe, specifically the United Kingdom. The head of state met with King Charles III, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.

During his meeting with King Charles III, Prabowo discussed various issues, especially regarding environmental preservation and sustainable forest management.

"There we have a lot in common. I said I strongly support it and we will cooperate," Prabowo said.

After visiting five countries, Prabowo also visited the United Arab Emirates to meet with President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In the meeting, the two leaders agreed to strengthen economic relations and strategic cooperation.

Prabowo and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed also agreed that the Indonesia-UAE relationship serves as a strong foundation to promote peace, stability, and mutual progress on the international stage.

"I continue to want cooperation and consultation with His Highness (MBZ)," said Prabowo.
