TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Game Expo 2024 (IGX2024) has started at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The two-day event combines all elements of the game industry and pop culture in Indonesia.
This afternoon, around 14:00 local time, the expo area in Hall 3 ICE BSD looked crowded with visitors from various age groups, ranging from children to adults. Some families also came while pushing their baby strollers. Foreign nationals were also seen there.
The location of IGX2024 is divided into three main zones, namely Past, Present, and Future, inviting visitors to remember, enjoy, and imagine the world of games in the past, present, and future. The Past Zone is the first area that welcomes visitors at the main entrance. Here, visitors are presented with a retro atmosphere with the presence of various classic consoles, such as Nintendo and Sega, as well as the legendary Mario Bros game. Some booths offer memorabilia collections such as old radios and cranks that enhance the nostalgic ambiance in this area.
"Here we sell keychains, vintage watches, radios, there are many," said Abdul, one of the Nintendo booth attendants. According to him, visitors have been enlivening this event since it opened at 10:00 local time.
In the next zone, namely Present, visitors can experience the atmosphere of various popular modern games. This area is bustling with visitors enthusiastically participating in e-sport tournaments, trying out the latest game demos, and hunting for exclusive items available at various booths.
As for the Future zone, the last one, it presents to visitors various sneak peeks of upcoming games. This area is a showcase of advanced technology offering a futuristic gaming experience, including game demos with virtual reality and augmented reality. The experience in this zone brings imagination to the future of the gaming world.
Ara, a visitor, came because he was interested in the unique exhibition concept. "Here there are many games from the past, present, or even futuristic ones. So, I want to have a look," he said when met by Tempo.
He explained that visitors can get a stamp for trying out games or buying items. Later, the accumulated stamps can be exchanged for items provided by the IGX organizers.
IGX2024 is also more festive with the presence of many cosplayers wearing costumes of various anime and game characters. The cosplayers dazzle with their iconic costumes, becoming a special attraction for expo visitors.
Some visitors use famous cosplay such as Princess Peach and Luigi from the Mario world, Sailor Moon, the character Jin-Roh from Wolf Brigade 1990 looking imposing in a steel armor uniform. There is also Luffy from One Piece, Faramis Emel from Mobile Legends, Kakashi from Naruto, and characters from the game Ghost of Tsushima. "I came here because I wanted to see how the event is, and coincidentally wanted to participate in the costume contest," said a visitor in a Kaname Madoka cosplay.
