TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Korean authorities continue their efforts to search for 12 crew members who went missing from a fishing vessel that sank in waters near Jeju Island.
According to the Jeju Coast Guard, local authorities have deployed 47 ships and five aircraft to conduct search operations until Saturday night.
The South Korean-flagged fishing vessel 'Geumseong 135' sank in waters near Jeju Island on Friday around 04:33 local time.
The vessel was manned by 27 crew members consisting of 16 South Korean nationals and 11 Indonesian nationals.
During the search operation on Friday, a total of 15 crew members were found, including nine Indonesian crew members, while 10 South Korean crew members and two Indonesian crew members were reported as still missing.crew me
Two of the South Korean crew members found were immediately taken to the nearest hospital after suffering heart attacks, where they were later pronounced dead.
The current efforts are focused on finding the remaining missing crew members. Aircraft will also be deployed to drop 222 light flares to support the operation.
