TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - London-based multinational oil and gas company, Shell Indonesia, denied rumors circulating about the closure of all its public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in Indonesia.
“Shell Indonesia informs that the circulating information regarding Shell's plan to close all SPBUs in Indonesia is false,” said Susi Hutapea, Vice President of Corporate Relations at Shell Indonesia, in a statement on Sunday, November 24, 2024, as reported by Antara.
Susi stressed that the company remains committed to operating its network of over 170 SPBUs across Indonesia and focused on its upstream and downstream businesses, including the operation of its lubricant plant in Marunda, Jakarta, and its fuel storage terminal in Gresik, East Java.
When asked about the market speculations, Susi declined to comment, stating, “We cannot comment on speculations that occur in the market. Shell Indonesia remains focused on gas station operations for our customers.”
The rumors about Shell's potential closure of its gas stations began circulating on Saturday, November 23, 2024. However, the company has dismissed these claims as unfounded.
At present, Shell operates a lubricant plant in Marunda, Jakarta, and a fuel storage terminal in Gresik, East Java. The parent company, Shell Plc, is a legal entity incorporated in England and Wales.
