TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. noted that 152,253 vehicles were leaving Greater Jakarta (Jabotabek) on H-7 Christmas 2024 or on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The figure represents vehicles that left the Cikupa Toll Gate (GT), Ciawi GT, Cikampek Utama GT, and Kalihurip Utama GT.
Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head Jasa Marga Lisye Octaviana said the traffic volume increased by 13.9 percent compared to normal traffic of 133,725 vehicles. "Compared to Christmas 2023, this traffic volume decreased by 2.5 percent or 156,080 vehicles," Lisye said in a written statement on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Lisye said most of the traffic distribution is headed east or to Trans Java and Bandung. The number reached 63,202 or covered 41.5 percent of the vehicles leaving Jabotabek. Then, there are 53,256 vehicles, or 35 percent of them heading west or Merak. Meanwhile, 35,795 vehicles or 23.5 percent of vehicles, headed south or towards Puncak.
She urged the public to avoid trips predicted to be the peak of the homecoming flow, namely Saturday, December 21, 2024, for Christmas and December 28 for the new year. Then, on December 29 for the peak of the Christmas return flow and January 1, 2024 for the new year period.
"We urge you not to travel at peak times to avoid vehicle buildup," she said.
Lisye also urged toll road users to anticipate the year-end holidays’ period trip properly. One is to ensure the vehicle and driver are in prime condition before traveling via the toll road.
"Use time wisely by utilizing enough time to rest at the rest area," Lisye said. "In addition, make sure you have enough fuel and electronic money, and obey the signs and directions of officers in the field."
