Aaron Judge hands New York Yankees major injury scare

The New York Yankees are nervously awaiting scan results after star man Aaron Judge reported discomfort in his elbow. 

He has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Philadelphia Phillies at Yankee Stadium, with the team waiting for imaging results.

Judge played Friday night in the team's 12-5 loss to the Phillies but was struggling to throw, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday.

Judge, 33, has been in blistering form in 2025 with 37 home runs to his name this season but the Yankees have been badly out of form lately. 

They have fallen down to second in the AL East standings, six wins behind leaders Toronto Blue Jays, with a stuttering win record that has fallen under .500 since May. 

Saturday's game in the Bronx was meant to represent a potential change in fortune for the Yankees.

Ryan McMahon is making his first start for his new team after being traded to New York from the Colorado Rockies on Friday. 

His arrival at third base signals an end to a problem area for the Yankees this season and their losing form of late has been littered by errors in the infield. 

But all that hope for better days ahead among the Yankees fanbase will be blown away if Judge has significant elbow damage. 

The Yankees are expected to add reinforcements to the bullpen before the trade deadline on July 31 at 6pm eastern time. 

But if the scan returns bad news, Boone and general manager Brian Cashman will have a big decision to make about how they handle the next few days,
