TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto urged the Indonesian Air Force to remain steadfast in its duty to safeguard the homeland. Prabowo delivered this message on the occasion of the Air Force's 80th anniversary, which fell on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Through a video shared on his official YouTube account, the Head of State extended his congratulations to the nation's air wing. In the short clip, Prabowo appeared seated in the cockpit of the Indonesian One presidential aircraft.
"Dirgahayu Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (Long live the Indonesian Air Force). Swa Bhuwana Paksa," Prabowo expressed on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as quoted from the video on his YouTube channel. Swa Bhuwana Paksa is the Air Force motto, which means the protector of the Homeland.
Prabowo hopes the Air Force will continue to prosper and remain formidable in defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia in the skies. "The Indonesian people are proud of you all. Guard our homeland," he said.
As reported by Antara, the 80th anniversary of the Air Force carries the theme "Pengabdian Tanpa Batas, TNI AU AMPUH, Indonesia Maju," which literally translates into "Limitless Dedication, Air Force AMPUH (Adaptive, Modern, Professional, Superior, and Humanist), Indonesia Onward."
The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU), Marshal Mohammad Tonny Harjono, took the opportunity to urge his subordinates to enhance the quality of primary weapon systems (Alutsista) and human resources to strengthen national defense.
In his address during the anniversary celebrations in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday, Tonny stated that the Air Force is currently introducing a wide array of new Alutsista. These upgrades include fighter jets, transport aircraft, and the deployment of new radar systems across various units.
All of these new systems are guaranteed to feature advanced, cutting-edge technology, making them suitable as primary air defense equipment. However, according to Tonny, these Alutsista assets will not function optimally without the support of high-quality human resources.
