Terry McLaurin finally returned to Washington Commanders training camp on Saturday, the team has confirmed.

The wide receiver was not present for the unofficial start of camp last week amid his bitter contract standoff in Washington, which he has expressed his frustration over publicly.

However, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that McLaurin has now joined up with the team in a major breakthrough, although he did not practice while dealing with an ankle injury.

'Terry McLaurin has reported and we're very happy about that,' Quinn said. 'He'll start training camp on PUP for his ankle.

'So on the business side, [GM Adam Peters] and the guys are still working hard with Terry and his reps. While on PUP, it's just like we do with other guys -- work with the trainers to get back as soon as he can.

McLaurin was fined a total of $200,000 for missing the start of training camp, having been docked $50,000 per day by the Commanders.

Washington began their training camp on July 23, just over two weeks out from their opening preseason game against the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

Quinn also revealed that he met up with McLaurin on Saturday night. 'It was great,' he gushed. 'I'm really pumped that he's here.'

The former Ohio State star - who is viewed as one of the best wide receivers in the league - is entering the final 12 months of the three-year, $71million deal he signed with the Commanders back in 2022.

He has been a mainstay in the side since being drafted in 2019 but notably elevated his game last year, despite missing out on the Super Bowl.

As a result, McLaurin feels as though he's done enough to earn a new deal and made that clear as he spoke to press earlier this month.

He said: 'I've been pretty frustrated, I'm not going to lie. Everything that has transpired up until this point has been disappointing and frustrating.

'I want to continue my career here. I've created my life here. My wife and I bought our first home here. This has been somewhere I've always wanted to be'.

He later added: 'Without any progressive discussions, it's hard to see me stepping on the field.'

Last season, McLaurin exploded into life and produced 1,096 receiving yards paired with a career-high 13 touchdowns for the Commanders.

Despite the impressive performances, the franchise narrowly missed out on a place in the Super Bowl after losing the NFC Championship Game to the Philadelphia Eagles.
