Elon Musk Says Jeffrey Epstein's Crimes Are a Priority Issue for His Party

2 weeks ago 35

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Technology billionaire Elon Musk has once again criticized his former ally, President of the United States, Donald Trump, concerning the case of the sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein. This comes after the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI announced on Sunday that they did not find a list of Epstein's clients.

Musk emphasized that his new party, the America Party, will focus on releasing documents related to the case.

"How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?" Musk wrote on his X social media platform on Tuesday, as quoted by Anadolu.

When a user asked whether unveiling these documents would be a top priority for the America Party, Musk confirmed by posting a "100" emoji.

The owner of Tesla and SpaceX previously called for Trump's impeachment. In a post on X, Musk claimed that Trump appeared in documents related to the alleged suicide of the sexual offender, Epstein. However, Musk later retracted his claim.

Photos of Trump with Epstein have long been circulated publicly, but Trump stated that he was not aware of Epstein's crimes. Epstein was convicted of providing minors for prostitution and sex trafficking.

A review of Epstein's material within the U.S. government also found no evidence of him blackmailing prominent individuals as part of his activities. It was also reported that he was not murdered while in custody, according to a memo released on July 7 outlining the agency's findings.

This memo, first reported by Axios, emerged after supporters of President Donald Trump pressed the government to release details about Epstein's associates following Trump's support for it during the 2024 presidential campaign.

The Department of Justice and the FBI stated that they found no evidence prompting an investigation into third parties not indicted in the Epstein case.

Although there have been various conspiracy theories about Epstein's death in a federal prison in New York, the FBI concluded that he died by suicide on August 10, 2019. This was determined by the New York City medical examiner and previous investigations, according to the memo.

This conclusion was supported by video evidence from the prison unit where Epstein was held, the memo stated. It was mentioned that the video is planned for public release online, and confirmed that no one entered the prison unit since his cell was locked at 10:40 PM local time on August 9, 2019, until around 6:30 AM the next day.

Although there were reports of CCTV malfunctioning during the time of Epstein's death.

Epstein died in a New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death came more than a decade after he was convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor, which led to his registration as a sex offender.

On Tuesday, Trump dismissed reporters' questions about the case.

"Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years," Trump said.

"I mean, I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this, where we’re having some of the greatest success and also tragedy, with what happened in Texas."

The relationship between Trump and Musk, who was once the largest donor to the president, has deteriorated into a bitter public feud since Musk began criticizing Trump's policies, which he called the "Big Beautiful Bill," and referred to him as "totally nuts and destructive."

Last month, Musk proposed the formation of a new political party, asking his followers on X whether it was time to form a new party in America that truly represents 80 percent of the population in between.

He then supported a suggestion from one supporter to name the new party "America Party," similar to America PAC (Political Action Committee) that he launched last year and spent US$239 million to support Trump and other Republican Party candidates in the 2024 election.

The U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, recently stated that the U.S. government would not release Epstein's client list, as it is claimed that such a list never existed.

The Trump administration's withdrawal of promises to release documents long sought by conservative allies has drawn criticism from various quarters.
