TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An explosion occurred at the mosque of State Senior High School or SMAN 72 Jakarta, located in the Kodamar Complex, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 12:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Rear Admiral Tunggul, Head of the Navy Public Relations Office, confirmed the incident and stated that the Navy is actively gathering information on the ground. "We are still gathering data on the chronology. Once everything is collected, we will inform you immediately," Tunggul said when contacted on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Based on information obtained by Tempo at the crime scene, eight students from SMAN 72 Jakarta sustained injuries as a result of the explosion. However, Tunggul neither denied nor confirmed the presence of injured victims. "Please wait for the suspected cause and other details. We are still gathering data in the field," he added.
Indra Maulana (28), a resident near the incident site, stated that the explosion occurred during Friday prayers at the school mosque. He reported hearing two distinct explosions from the school area. "After the explosion, smoke billowed and students could be heard screaming in panic," Indra said.
He continued, noting that an ambulance arrived at the scene a few minutes later and transported several students suspected to be victims. "I think there were 8 people who became victims," Indra concluded.
