TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British music legend Elton John and K-pop star G-Dragon are set to headline the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025. Organizers announced this exciting news on Thursday, February 20, 2025, through a post on the official Instagram account @f1nightrace.
"Get ready for a power-packed weekend to remember at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025! Rounding off the thrilling track action from F1, F1 Academy and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia are global music superstars," the post stated.
G-Dragon is scheduled to perform on Friday, October 3, while Elton John will close the event on Sunday, October 5.
The Return of G-Dragon, King of K-Pop
As reported by The Strait Times, G-Dragon's performance at Padang Stage, Zone 4 will be a special moment. The leader of the boy group BIGBANG recently ended a seven-year hiatus by announcing his solo album "Ubermensch", set for release on February 25. G-Dragon's return to the music scene was also marked by his performance at the MAMA Awards 2024, nine years after his last appearance.
In Singapore, G-Dragon last held a solo concert in 2017 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. His appearance this time is expected to draw thousands of fans, coinciding with the launch of his "Ubermensch" world tour, which will begin in March 2025.
Elton John to Deliver a Grand Finale Performance
Meanwhile, Elton John will close the F1 event with a concert on October 5 on the same stage. The 77-year-old singer previously concluded his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" farewell tour in 2023. However, he remains active in the music world, participating in various special performances.
The singer of "Tiny Dancer" and "Your Song" last performed in Singapore in 2015, in a concert held at The Star Theatre. With a career boasting sales of over 300 million albums, Elton John continues to be one of the most influential musicians globally.
The Singapore Formula 1 event is not only a racing spectacle but also a major music festival in Singapore. Each year, the concert at the Marina Bay Street Circuit attracts tens of thousands of spectators. In the previous edition, the Padang Stage saw an audience of 60,000 people.
According to the CNA report, Adam Firth, Executive Director of Singapore GP Pte Ltd, stated that in addition to G-Dragon and Elton John, the lineup of musicians for this year will continue to expand.
"We are incredibly excited with how the full entertainment line-up is progressing but could not wait to announce that these superstars will be performing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this year. Other acts will be unveiled in the coming months to complete the full race weekend entertainment program," Firth said.
Daily walkabout tickets have been officially released, with prices starting from S$148, or approximately Rp1.8 million, for access to Zone 4 on Friday, October 3. The Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025 will be held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit for three days, from October 3 to 5, 2025. Tickets can be purchased through the official website www.singaporegp.sg.
