Hezbollah's spokesperson, Mohammad Afif, on Monday, November 11, 2024, confirmed that they have not received any proposals for a ceasefire in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that several diplomatic efforts had been made, and Israeli media reported that the Israeli cabinet had approved a ceasefire.
"So far, according to the information, nothing has reached Lebanon or our table regarding this matter. I am confident that we are still in the 'waiting period' and presenting a number of proactive ideas and discussions, but there have been no concrete actions so far," said Afif.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Monday, November 11, 2024, claimed that progress had been made in ceasefire talks, but law enforcement remains an essential element. Saar said the main challenge for them is the enforcement of the agreed law.
Previously, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Israeli media, Hayom, reported significant progress in a series of diplomatic negotiations on the ceasefire proposal for Lebanon, which would demand Hezbollah to withdraw its members from the northern area of the Litani River, or there should be no military presence in the Israeli border area. Meanwhile, the Israeli army would return to the international border.
Meanwhile, the most popular newspaper in Israel, Yedioth Ahronoth, on Monday, November 11, 2024, reported that Israel and Lebanon had exchanged drafts (proposals) through a special US envoy for Lebanon, Amos Hochestein, where signals of progress had been made in efforts to reach a final agreement.
Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon have killed more than 3,000 people in the last 13 months since the outbreak of the battle between Hezbollah and Israel. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health stated that 3,002 people had died and 13,492 were injured since the start of Israel's 'aggression' against Lebanon.
The figures show that there were 589 women and at least 185 children among the 3,002 people who had died so far, according to the ministry. Meanwhile, Israel claims that hundreds of Hezbollah fighters have died in their attacks. Witnesses and independent reports from the bombed communities across Lebanon prove otherwise. The number of civilian casualties from Israel's extensive and indiscriminate airstrikes and artillery shelling is significant.
UNICEF, the UN children's agency, said last week that at least one child per day had been killed in Lebanon in the past month. The increasing death toll comes after around 1.2 million of Lebanon's 5.8 million population had been forcibly displaced. They were repeatedly bombed by Israel and continue to receive forced evacuation orders.
