TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) has endorsed the leaders and supervisory council of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2024-2029 period through a plenary meeting on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Five leaders and supervisory council members of the anti-corruption agency, respectively, were approved during the session, led by Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani.
The chair of DPR’s Commission III, Habiburokhman, presented the results of the fit and proper test for the KPK leaders and supervisory council candidates. Previously, the DPR's Steering Committee on November 11 had assigned Commission III to discuss the candidates for KPK leaders and supervisory council for the term 2024-2029.
"This assignment is in response to Presidential Letter No. R.60/Pres/XI/2024 regarding the candidates for the leadership of KPK and the supervisory council of KPK for the term 2024-2029," said Habiburokhman during the session at the parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Puan then asked all members present for approval of the selected five KPK leaders and supervisory council members. The meeting was attended by 308 members, with 27 absent members.
Prior to this, Commission III of the DPR had conducted the fit and proper test for 10 candidates each of the KPK leaders and KPK supervisory council from November 18-21, 2024. Each candidate was tested for 90 minutes.
These ten names were finally chosen based on the majority vote by the members of Commission III of the DPR on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The five selected KPK leaders with the most votes are Setyo Budiyanto, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, Johanis Tanak, and Agus Joko Pramono. Of the five selected leaders, Setyo Budiyanto was appointed as the Chair of KPK with 46 votes.
Meanwhile, the five selected supervisory council members of KPK for 2024-2029 include Benny Jozua Mamoto, Chisca Mirawati, Wisnu Baroto, Gusrizal, and Sumpeno. Both Benny and Chisca received the highest number of votes, which was 46 votes each.
