TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is now confirmed without a representative in the final match of the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) after the men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri was eliminated in the semifinal. During the match at the Ningbo Olympic Arena on Saturday, Fajar/Fikri lost to the South Korean pair Kang Min Hyuk/Ki Dong Ju in a rubber game with the scores 13-21, 21-14, 16-21.

This defeat also closes Indonesia's chance of clinching the title. There is not a single representative from the Red and White Team who made it to the final round.

Fajar admitted that they still made a lot of mistakes, especially at crucial moments. "We have fought hard, but there are still many mistakes that need to be evaluated for the future," he said, as quoted by Antara.

Fikri added that their opponents played very solidly, especially in defense, which was able to restrain the attacking pattern they built. "Their defense was very tidy and it made it difficult for us," he said.

Prior to this, Indonesia's hope in the women's doubles sector also ended after Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi lost to the top-seeded pair from China, Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning.
Fadia/Tiwi surrendered in straight sets with scores of 10-21, 12-21.

Fadia believed that their defeat was due to the inconsistency in their game tempo. "We found a playing pattern, but it was not consistent and we made too many mistakes," she said.

Meanwhile, Tiwi admitted that the Chinese pair was more prepared and able to dictate the game from the start. "They were very consistent, while we played hesitantly," she said.

Even though they failed to advance to the final, Fadia believed that their performance showed improvement. She mentioned that this result would be the basis for evaluation to face the next tournaments, including the Thomas & Uber Cup 2026.
