TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of investors in Indonesia’s capital market has surpassed 20 million, marking a significant milestone in the country’s financial sector, according to the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI).
KSEI reported that as of December 19, 2025, the total number of Single Investor Identifications (SIDs) reached 20.13 million. This represents year-to-date growth of 35 percent in 2025, up from 14.87 million SIDs recorded at the end of 2024.
“KSEI has recorded that by December 2025, the total number of SIDs in Indonesia’s capital market exceeded 20 million, reaching approximately 20,129,679,” KSEI President Director Samsul Hidayat said during a media luncheon marking the company’s 28th anniversary in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Younger investors continue to dominate the market. Data from KSEI show that 54.23 percent of investors are under the age of 30, followed by 24.88 percent in the 31-40 age group.
Investors aged 41-50 account for 12.31 percent of the total, while those aged 51-60 represent 5.69 percent. Investors over 60 years old make up the remaining 2.89 percent.
In terms of asset ownership, investors aged over 60 hold the largest share of capital market assets, valued at Rp1,104.30 trillion. This is followed by the 51-60 age group, which holds assets worth Rp320.50 trillion.
Investors aged 31-40 hold assets valued at Rp262.89 trillion, while those aged 41-50 control Rp212.59 trillion. Despite being the largest demographic group, investors under 30 years old hold relatively smaller assets, totaling Rp60.03 trillion.
Regionally, the majority of investors are based on the island of Java, accounting for 68.91 percent of total investors. Java also dominates in terms of asset value, with holdings reaching Rp6,400.59 trillion, or 94.42 percent of total market assets.
Sumatra accounts for 16.29 percent of investors, with assets valued at Rp135.57 trillion, followed by Kalimantan with 4.99 percent of investors and assets worth Rp183.19 trillion.
Sulawesi represents 5.31 percent of investors with total assets of Rp23.18 trillion, while Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) together account for 3.51 percent of investors with assets valued at Rp26.21 trillion.
Meanwhile, Maluku and Papua make up the smallest share, with 0.99 percent of investors and total assets of Rp6.67 trillion.
