TEMPO.CO, JakartaMinister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni inspected the Indonesian Pavilion at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan ahead of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The Minister coordinated with other relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to finalize the Indonesian delegation's agenda for the conference.

“We have had a detailed discussion on the agenda, which will run from tomorrow until the 14th,” Raja Juli said, as quoted from a press release on Monday, November 11, 2024.

He explained that the Indonesian Pavilion will serve as a platform for soft diplomacy, promoting Indonesia's positive contributions to global climate action. It will also be a space for discussions, idea sharing, and showcasing the progress made by Indonesia, including the efforts of civil society organizations and state-owned enterprises such as PLN and Pertamina.

The Indonesian delegation, led by Hashim Djojohadikusumo, will officially open the Indonesian Pavilion on November 11, 2024. Hashim will be accompanied by Raja Juli Antoni and Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.

At COP29, Raja Juli stressed that Indonesia will prioritize discussions on advancing carbon trading. The government aims to announce the implementation of a carbon trading scheme in Indonesia following the conference.

Hanif emphasized that the government will overcome global barriers to carbon trading and carbon credit schemes. The Indonesian delegation will hold numerous bilateral meetings at the COP29 Secretariat to discuss these issues.

COP29, themed "In Solidarity for a Green World", will take place from November 11 to 22, 2024. The conference, Hanif said, will serve as a crucial platform for Indonesia to strengthen its commitment to international climate action.
