TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The damage from the joint US-Israeli war on iran is estimated at US$270 billion, or around Rp4.6 quadrillion.

The figure, which is still a preliminary assessment, was revealed by Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as reported by the Tasnim News Agency.

"One of the issues that our negotiating team is pursuing, and which was also pursued in the Islamabad talks, is the issue of war reparations," Mohajerani told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, as quoted from Antara.

However, the US$270 billion figure is not yet final.

"Damages usually have to be examined in several layers," she said.

According to Anadolu, Iran also demanded compensation from five Arab countries—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan—for wartime losses due to alleged participation in US-Israel strikes on Iran.

Iran's UN Envoy Amir Saeid Iravani penned a letter Monday addressed to UN chief Antonio Guterres and UN Security Council president Jamal Fares Alrowaiei, claiming the Arab states "breached their international obligation" and thus must be held responsible for the losses suffered during the war.

Tensions in the Gulf region escalated after the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran in late February, resulting in thousands of deaths and thousands more injured.

Iran then launched retaliatory attacks on Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states hosting US military assets, before a two-week ceasefire was announced last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Iranian and US delegations concluded 21 hours of negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Sunday, but failed to reach any agreement.
