TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Italy, the birthplace of pizza, was crowned the world's best culinary destination at the 2025 World Culinary Awards. The European nation defeats several other destinations such as the United States, Dubai—which won last year—and Vietnam.
Italian cuisine is celebrated for its simplicity, high-quality ingredients, and iconic dishes such as pizza, pasta, and gelato. Italian cuisine emphasizes high-quality ingredients such as ripe tomatoes, aromatic herbs, fresh cheese, and olive oil.
Each region offers its own unique flavors, from the delicious meat dishes of Tuscany to the rich seafood flavors of Sicily.
Meanwhile, Vietnam was once again named Asia's Best Culinary Destination 2025, while its capital, Hanoi, was awarded the title of Asia's Best Emerging Culinary City 2025.
These awards cement Vietnam's growing reputation as one of Asia's most dynamic and unique culinary centers, combining tradition with creativity.
From bustling street corners to elegant dining rooms, Vietnamese cuisine represents a living cultural heritage. Each dish tells a story about the land, the people, and their enduring relationship with nature.
World Culinary Awards
The World Culinary Awards is a sister event to the World Travel Awards, launched in 1993 to recognize excellence in the travel and tourism industry. The results are the culmination of a year-long search for the world's leading culinary brands.
Votes are cast by culinary industry professionals and the general public, with the nominees receiving the most votes in each category being declared the winners. The 2025 winners were announced at a festive dinner reception in Sardinia, Italy, on October 23, 2025.
Rina van Staden, Director of the World Culinary Awards, said the 2025 World Culinary Awards winners truly exemplify the meaning of striving for culinary excellence, innovating, breaking boundaries, and serving only the best. “My congratulations to each of them,” she said at the reception.
International food magazine TasteAtlas ranked Italian cuisine as the second best in the world for 2025, after Greek cuisine.
