KPK to Auction Seized Assets, From iPhones to Herms Bag

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will auction off a sizable number of seized items from corruption cases. The anti-corruption agency will offer these items to the general public during the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day next week.

The Director of Asset Tracing, Evidence Management, and Execution at KPK, Mungki Hadipratikto, said the auction is slated for December 10, 2024. 

"The auction aims to support the efforts to recover assets from corruption and money laundering offenses," Mungki said, as quoted in a written statement on Wednesday, December 4.

KPK listed various items to be auctioned, including houses and land assets, cars, motorcycles, branded bags, bicycles, mobile phones, and even precious metals.

One of the items offered in KPK’s Auction Catalog is a brown Hermès Lindy bag, auctioned at a fair value of  Rp29,925,000. The required guarantee for the item is Rp10 million.

The anti-corruption agency also auctioned four smartphones, including a unit of iPhone 12 Pro Max, 1 unit of an unspecified iPhone model, and 2 units of unspecified Samsung phones. Each of these items is priced at a fair value of Rp4,575,000 and a required guarantee of Rp2 million.

Another item is a red 2005 edition Brompton bike. The KPK auctions this item at a fair value of Rp15,970,000 and a guarantee of Rp7 million.

Other assets included in the KPK auction are a Harley Davidson motorcycle with a fair value of Rp76,440,000, a house in South Jakarta with a fair value of Rp19,785,237,000, and a Mercedes Benz car with a fair value of Rp532,034,000.

Prospective bidders can view the items on Thursday, December 5. KPK hosts the activity at the State Property Storage House on Dewi Sartika Street, Cawang, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

"For those interested, registration can be done online on the website portal.lelang.go.id or lelang.go.id," said Mungki.

KPK will announce the winners of this auction on December 10, where they are subject to a 2 percent bidder fee for immovable assets and 3 percent for movable assets.
