Los Angeles Chargers star Rashawn Slater set to sign all-time record NFL contract

The Los Angeles Chargers have reportedly reached an agreement on a contract extension with left tackle Rashawn Slater. 

The 26-year-old is reportedly set to sign a four-year, $114 million contract extension that includes a record $92 million guaranteed, according to Adam Schefter. 

The deal is set to make Slater the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.

The Chargers and Slater's representatives, CAA Football, have reportedly been hammering out the deal for weeks. 

Slater was set to enter the final year on his current contract but is now tied to Los Angeles until 2029. 

Selected by the Chargers with the 13th overall pick in 2021, Slater has already earned two Pro-Bowl nods over his four-year NFL career.

The 26-year-old has been a permanent fixture on Los Angeles' offensive line in recent years 

He was limited to three games in 2022 because of a ruptured biceps, but has otherwise been a permanent fixture on the Bolts' offensive line. 

'Rashawn is such a great teammate, great locker room guy,' quarterback Justin Herbert said of the team captain last season. 'He's competitive, very smart, very intelligent.' 

and the Chargers' new deal with Slater strengthens the team's commitment to protecting Herbert in the upcoming season. 

Last season, the Chargers improved on their 5–12 record from 2023 following a Week 10 victory, and managed to clinch a Wild Card spot with a win against the New England Patriots in Week 17.
