TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chair of the Central Executive Board of PDIP for the National Legal System Reform, Ronny Talapessy, stated that he will report Gerindra politician Maruarar Sirait to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). Maruarar previously stated that the votes for Pramono-Rano Karno in the Jakarta gubernatorial election would erode from the non-Muslim community due to Anies Baswedan's support.
"We will immediately report to Bawaslu," said Ronny Talapessy to the media, at Garuda Restaurant, Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Ronny considers Maruarar's statement dangerous as it has the potential to divide the residents of Jakarta during the regional head election contest. "Of course, we will take legal steps immediately," said Ronny.
Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto also responded to the statement by the former cadre of the bull party. Hasto expressed regret over the statement made by the child of the PDIP founder, which is considered to fuel ethnic, religious, racial, and inter-group (SARA) sentiments. "It is very regrettable that Mr. Ara Sirait's statement falls into the SARA category," he said.
Hasto also views the statement by the minister in the Red and White Cabinet as an arrogant attitude. He believes that the statement triggers an unsuitable situation in the political climate. "I am sure President Prabowo would not appreciate statements from his assistant," he said.
Maruarar Sirait mentioned that the votes for the duo Pramono Anung-Rano Karno in the Jakarta gubernatorial election will diminish after receiving support from Anies Baswedan. "I am sure they will decrease because now Pramono is supported by Anies," said the man commonly known as Ara in Jakarta, on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Ara gave an example that when Ridwan Kamil was paired with PKS politician Suswono, the majority of non-Muslims in Jakarta shifted their support to Pramono-Rano. The reason is that the PDIP vote base consists of nationalists who do not align with Anies, seen as a religious figure.
However, after Anies declared his support for the Pramono-Rano pair, Ara said it is not impossible for those non-Muslims to return their votes to the Ridwan-Suswono duo. "So, I am grateful to Mas Anies for supporting Pramono-Rano," Ara said.
