TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police deploy 2,811 joint personnel to secure the World Cup Asian qualifier match between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta today.
"We have prepared 2,811 joint personnel to secure the football match between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia at GBK Jakarta on Tuesday night," said the Chief of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner General Susatyo Purnomo Condro, when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Thousands of police, military, and Jakarta Provincial Government personnel will be stationed at various points in the GBK area. "Starting from the entrance gate, the match location, to around the Senayan area," said Susatyo.
The Chief of Police urges the public and supporters not to bring prohibited items such as firecrackers, flares, sharp weapons, or alcoholic beverages into the stadium.
He also hopes that the national team supporters can maintain a conducive atmosphere tonight and will not damage any public facility. "So the stadium remains safe and orderly," said Susatyo.
Traffic diversions will be conducted situationally around the Senayan area to anticipate congestion. Susatyo urges road users to find alternative routes and avoid the GBK area ahead of the match.
"We will ensure the safety and security of the Saudi Arabian supporter team who will be watching at GBK so that all parties can maintain security and order at the venue," he emphasized.
Susatyo ensures that all personnel on duty will not carry firearms, prioritize a humane approach, and take firm actions against spectators who bring firecrackers, flares, or fireworks.
The joint personnel securing the match between the Indonesian national team and Saudi Arabia come from the Jakarta Metro Police, the Central Jakarta Metro Police, the military, the Jakarta Provincial Government, and other relevant parties.
The Indonesian national team will continue their fight in the third round of the World Cup Asian qualifiers facing Saudi Arabia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. local time.
