TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alibaba Cloud, a leading provider of cloud computing services from China, has identified Indonesia as a crucial market in its Southeast Asia strategy for developing cloud technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Thus, Alibaba Cloud is committed to supporting the development of Indonesian tech talent, particularly in the AI domain.
"Southeast Asia is a crucial market for Alibaba Cloud, and Indonesia serves as the headquarters for our South Pacific and Japan regions. That shows Indonesia's important position in our strategy,” said Rocky Liu, Regional Solution Director and Principal Solution Architect at Alibaba Cloud, during a media briefing at the Raffles Hotel in South Jakarta on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Ananda Budi, Lead Solution Architect for Alibaba Cloud Indonesia, echoed this sentiment. He said that high internet penetration and the need for digital transformation across various sectors are driving the demand. “Many businesses in Indonesia need digitalization. One way for them to innovate quickly is by adopting cloud technology,” he said.
Alibaba Cloud also emphasized the critical role of local talent in driving AI adoption. “Local talents are highly skilled. They continue to learn, and we will continue to invest to help them grow in the AI field,” Rocky added.
Ananda also sees great potential in AI use across various business applications. “With AI, we can see new possibilities that were previously unseen for businesses,” he stated.
As part of its strategy, Alibaba Cloud has implemented training programs and workshops to empower local talent in Indonesia. “This is an opportunity to enhance the skills of local talents,” concluded Ananda.
