TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto hosts a brunch for dozens of American entrepreneurs at State Palace on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. The business magnates are members of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council.
Wearing a gray suit and a blue tie, Prabowo, who arrived at the palace at 10:02 a.m., greeted several entrepreneurs who were seated in a U-shaped formation. The president briefly conversed with the American business actors before the brunch started.
"I would like to welcome all of you to Indonesia. However, most of you reside here, so thank you for attending the meeting this morning," said Prabowo to the 50 American entrepreneurs.
In the same statement, Prabowo mentioned that despite being 44 days old, he’s pleased with the performance of his administration.
The former Commander of the Army Strategic Reserves Command said most of the targets his government set are in progress. "Many of our commitments have been fulfilled. And I must express my gratitude to my team," said Prabowo.
Prabowo reassured U.S. entrepreneurs multiple times that businesses in Indonesia are corruption-free. He relayed the statement during his visit to the U.S. on November 11, while meeting the members of USINDO in Washington, DC.
President Prabowo highlighted his stance on corruption, which he likened to a cancer in the economy, claiming zero tolerance for it.
“He even mentioned that he can be contacted directly to report corruption or anyone causing problems. It’s a highly positive and clear message, which was appreciated for President Prabowo’s straightforwardness,” said Minister of Investment Rosan P. Roeslani, who accompanied President Prabowo in the meeting.
