TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited the lyse Palace in Paris, France, for a tete-a-tete meeting with President Emmanuel Macron of France on Tuesday afternoon, April 14th, 2026 local time. Prabowo shared this moment through his official Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia.
During the meeting, Prabowo and President Macron discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including the procurement of defense equipment and the strengthening of the defense industry, energy transition and the development of new renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and creative economy, as written in the caption on Prabowo's account.
Indonesia considers France as an important partner in the European region. Therefore, Indonesia continues to push for sustainable cooperation with France to open up new collaboration opportunities that are increasingly concrete and mutually beneficial for both countries.
Upon arriving at the lyse Palace, Prabowo was welcomed by the French honor guard, accompanied by musical instruments. President Macron, who had been waiting on the terrace of the lyse Palace, walked over to greet President Prabowo.
They were seen embracing and shaking hands before proceeding with the main agenda. While entering the lyse Palace, Prabowo and Macron had a brief conversation. They took a photo right in front of the entrance to the palace, after which Macron escorted Prabowo into the Les Salon des Portraits for the tte--tte.
It is known that Prabowo Subianto continued his state visit to Paris, France, after an intensive meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in Moscow, Russia. Prabowo arrived in Paris on Monday night, April 13th, 2026, at 23:50 local time.
Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya separately stated that the meeting between President Prabowo and President Macron not only focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, but also served as an important opportunity for Indonesia to convey its strategic views regarding global dynamics.
"In that meeting, Mr. President, in addition to strengthening cooperation with the government of France, will also convey Indonesia's position in maintaining global stability and promoting world peace," Teddy said in a written statement on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.
