TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto again reminded all parties to avoid corruption. He said he would take firm action against those who commit corruption. Prabowo said this in his speech at the 60th anniversary of the Golkar Party at the Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday evening, December 12, 2024.
Prabowo urged that there should be no misguided esprit de corps in government institutions. "Surely, every institution has good and bad aspects. There should be no misguided loyalty among the corps that protects our members even when they are wrong. All institutions can make sacrifices," he said.
The President emphasized that he and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming had sworn before God to uphold the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, he said he would firmly act upon violators.
"Therefore, I urge all concerned, those who have strayed. Return to the right path, the straight path," he said.
He asked all elements to abide by the law. "I see the reports, too many of our resources, some smuggled out, illegal mining, this and that, manipulation of reports, not wanting to pay taxes, not wanting to fulfill obligations to the state, receiving facilities from the state, exploiting public property but not fulfilling obligations, we will stop," he declared.
Prabowo, who is also the chairman general of the Gerindra Party, also admitted that he had asked all Gerindra cadres serving in the government to never engage in corrupt practices, as he would be the one to take direct action.
"This is what I tell all those who won, governors, mayors, regents, if you betray the people, I'm sorry, I will be the first to take action against all of you, this is what I tell my party."
Prabowo also invited everyone to live history well. He asked everyone to always strive to leave a good name.
