TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto convened his cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, in a working meeting that included ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, and first-echelon officials.
The Head of the Government Communication Bureau, Angga Raka Prabowo, said the meeting was scheduled for 02:00 PM WIB.
“The President gathered all ministries and agencies,” he confirmed at the Presidential Palace.
Angga explained that the purpose of the meeting is for President Prabowo to provide guidance on strategic matters. “The President will deliver briefings on government and state policies, as well as situational updates,” he said.
He added that the President deliberately invited officials down to the first-echelon level, emphasizing that ministries and agencies function as unified teams supported by staff at all levels. “It is important for the President to speak not only with ministers but also with their senior officials,” Angga noted.
The detailed topics of the briefing were not disclosed, though Angga mentioned that Prabowo, who also serves as Chairman of the Gerindra Party, would discuss strategic issues, including recent geopolitical developments.
Ahead of Wednesday’s full briefing, President Prabowo met with several ministers and agency heads on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Officials seen at the Palace included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, and Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Brian Yuliarto. Also present were the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board Dony Oskaria and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo.
Following Tuesday’s meeting, Minister Airlangga said he discussed the economic sector with President Prabowo, noting that the outcomes would be presented at the grand working meeting on Wednesday.
“Tomorrow, it is requested to be presented,” he said.
