TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chief of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, is grateful for the success of the Indonesian national team, which has climbed to 125th place in the FIFA world rankings. He aims for the Garuda team to break into the top 100 in the world soon.
In the latest FIFA Ranking, Indonesia is in 125th position, up five places from its previous position. Indonesia has a total of 1,135.11 points, an increase of 16.24 points.
"Alhamdulillah Indonesia's FIFA Ranking continues to rise. Currently, Indonesia is ranked 125th, which is an increase of five places from the previous position. We will continue to support Indonesia to enter the top 100 in the FIFA ranking," Erick said as quoted from his Instagram account.
During Erick Thohir's tenure as PSSI Chief, Indonesia's position in the FIFA Ranking has been on an upward trend. When Erick was appointed as the PSSI Chairman in February 2023, Indonesia was ranked 151st according to the list released in December 2022.
In early April 2023, the Indonesian national team's ranking rose to 149th, then briefly dropped to 150th place in June and remained there until July 2023.
After that, the Indonesian national team's ranking slowly climbed, albeit with occasional dips. It rose to 147th in September 2023, 145th in October 2023, then dropped to 146th in November 2023, and remained until December 2023.
There was another rise in February 2024, when Indonesia was ranked 142nd, then a significant rise in April 2024 to 134th, which remained until June 2024.
Indonesia then climbed one place to the 133rd in July 2024 and rose significantly to the 129th position in September 2024.
Indonesia's position briefly drops to the 130th position in October 2024, before jumping back up to the 125th position in November 2024.
