Riza Chalid Wanted in Pertamina Oil Corruption Case, Believed to Be Abroad

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) collaborated with representatives from the Indonesian Attorney's Office in Singapore to locate Mohammad Riza Chalid. The AGO has designated the oil magnate as one of the 9 new suspects in the alleged corruption case in the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga during the 2018-2023 period.

Qohar mentioned that they have not arrested Riza because his current status is that of a fugitive, and he is on the wanted list (DPO). They believe the man who has been dubbed "The Gasoline Godfather" is not in Indonesia.

"We have collaborated with the Indonesian prosecution's representatives abroad, especially in Singapore," said Qohar in a press conference in front of the Round Building of Jampidsus AGO, Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Prior to this, Qohar explained that the AGO had made several efforts to bring Riza in for questioning, including banning him from leaving the country when they did not know the whereabouts of the prospective suspects at that time.

He stated that the purpose of this action was to alter, not disrupt, and expedite the investigation. They assume that with the ban, the prospective suspects will not flee to foreign countries.

"But specifically for MRC, after being summoned three times in a row and failing to appear, based on the information, the person is not residing in the country," he continued.

The AGO then collaborated with prosecutor representatives abroad, particularly in Singapore. Through these representatives, the AGO hopes to obtain direct information from the country where Riza is suspected to be.

"So we are taking these steps to find and bring in the person concerned."

In this case, Riza has been designated as a suspect as the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and PT Orbit Terminal Merak.

Last February, the AGO had designated nine people as suspects. Three of them came from the private sector, including Riza Chalid's son, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza. Kerry is the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa.

Aside from Kerry, two close associates of Riza have also been designated as suspects by the AGO. They are the commissioners of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa, as well as PT Jenggala Maritim and PT Orbit Terminal Merak. Dimas Werhaspati is a commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim and PT Orbit Terminal Merak. Gading Ramadhan Joede is a commissioner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak and PT Jenggala Maritim. These companies belong to Riza Chalid.
