South Tangerang Police Destroy Narcotics Evidence Worth Rp 77 Billion

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Narcotics Detective Unit of the South Tangerang Police destroyed hundreds of kilograms of various types of narcotics such as dried marijuana, crystal meth, synthetic drugs, and synthetic seedlings. The narcotics are worth a total of Rp 77 billion.

The symbolic destruction of the narcotics evidence took place in the courtyard of the South Tangerang Police Station on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The destruction was attended by the South Tangerang District Attorney, representatives from the Tangerang District Court, and religious figures.

Prior to the destruction, the police first checked the evidence. The police also prepared land to pour the narcotics from the destruction process by blending them.

The Head of the Narcotics Detective Unit of the South Tangerang Police, AKP Bachtiar Noprianto, stated that the destruction was carried out based on 25 reports received. 'The South Tangerang Police Narcotics Unit conducted the destruction based on 25 reports from August to November 2024,' said Bachtiar.

According to him, out of the 25 reports, there were 15 suspects arrested. The destruction also included 7.6 kilograms of crystal meth, 617.1 kilograms of dried marijuana, 4.1 grams of synthetic drugs, and synthetic seedlings. Bachtiar stated that through the destruction of these illicit goods, the police saved thousands of lives with an estimated drug transaction value of billions of rupiah.
