TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A teenager, identified as 15-year-old N, died after being electrocuted during a flood in the Az-Zahra Housing Area, Bulak Village, Karangasih District, Bekasi Regency, on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
A friend of the victim, AF, said the incident occurred while the victim and his companions were searching for fish in the inundated area. "He fell and grabbed the electric pole," he told reporters on Friday, January 23, 2026.
After falling and clutching the pole, the victim immediately lost consciousness.
Witnesses at the scene attempted to administer first aid, but the victim could not be revived. "After that, he was taken to the hospital, but he had already passed away," he said.
The Head of Karangasih Village, Samsu Dawam, stated that village officials, supported by police personnel, immediately deployed to the location. Upon inspection, it was discovered that a power cable had come loose.
"We have urged residents to be more cautious now," Samsu added.
