TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Law students at the University of Indonesia (UI) are urging the campus to expel 16 alleged perpetrators of sexual harassment cases. The Chair of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of UI, Yatalathof Ma'shun Imawan, conveyed this during a forum held at the Djokosoetono Auditorium of UI's Faculty of Law on Monday evening, April 13, 2026.
"UI's law students demand the expulsion of 16 perpetrators," he said.
The forum was organized to address the aftermath of alleged sexual harassment cases involving several law students at UI. The forum was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law at UI. The suspected perpetrators were also required to attend the forum.
According to Tempo's observation on site, two suspected perpetrators wearing long-sleeved white shirts stood alongside the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Parulian Paidi Aritonang. However, the other 14 suspected perpetrators were not present at that time due to being prohibited by their parents.
This situation agitated the students present at the forum, who requested the dean to communicate with the parents of the suspected perpetrators to ensure their attendance.
"In this case, we hope that the Dean and the faculty can use their authority, even imperatively against their parents," said one of the female students who moderated the forum.
In response, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Parulian Paidi Aritonang, requested 10 minutes to communicate again with the parents of the suspected perpetrators.
"If I can't convince them, I ask some of you to join me," said Parulian.
While Tempo was inside the Djokosoetono Auditorium, two students asked Tempo to leave the building, citing that it was a student forum.
According to social media posts, late at night, the 14 suspected perpetrators finally agreed to enter the forum. The moment was captured in a video circulated on social media. As the suspected perpetrators entered the forum, the students were nearly outraged, some even approaching the perpetrators and hurling curses at them.
When reconfirmed on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026, the Chair of BEM UI, Athof, revealed that following the forum the previous night, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at UI committed to imposing strict sanctions.
"They could even be expelled if serious misconduct is proven in the process," said Athof.
Currently, continued the student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UI, the PPKS Task Force is overseeing the case. "Some say it will take 5 days," Athof added.
