TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Yogyakarta City Tourism Agency will launch the 2025 event calendar to the public this weekend. The event will be held on Jalan Malioboro or the West Gate of Kepatihan Yogyakarta Complex on Saturday afternoon, November 30, 2024.

The head of the Tourism Marketing Division of the Yogyakarta City Tourism Agency, Sri Arika Wahyuningsih, said that the launch of the event calendar titled "Laksmita 2025" is expected to be a reference for tourists in preparing their holiday plans next year.

"Throughout 2025, there will be no less than 135 events in Yogyakarta City, including 16 flagship events," Arika said on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Categories and Flagship Events

The hundreds of events are divided into various categories such as culture, arts, sports, special interests, music and others.

As for next year's flagship events that will attract many tourists, they have not changed much but will be developed with new themes and atmospheres. These events include Chinese Cultural Week, Jogja Cross Culture, Art Jog, Prambanan Jazz, Kotabaru Heritage Festival. There are also the Yogyakarta Cultural Festival, Pasar Kangen Jogja, Sumonar, Pasar Lawasan Mataram, Jogja Rock Arta, Land of Leisures Jogja, Kustomfest, Wayang Jogja Night Carnival, and Ngayogjazz.

The launch of the event calendar, presented in the form of art performances, is expected to make it easier for domestic and foreign tourists to access travel information, remember, and plan their trips to Yogyakarta. If tourists can plan their trips more thoroughly, it is hoped that it will increase the number of visits, shopping levels, and length of stay in Yogyakarta.

Yogyakarta Tourism Visits

Arika revealed that in 2025, the Yogyakarta City Tourism Agency is optimistic about achieving the tourist visits target in line with the current trend. By the end of 2024, the number of tourist movements in the 'Gudeg City' will continue to increase and is expected to reach nine million by the end of the year.

"As of October, the visits have already reached 8.7 million tourists, our previous estimate was only up to 5 million visits," she said.

Specifically, there are 8.4 million domestic tourists and 300,000 foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, the young policy analyst of the Yogyakarta City Tourism Agency, Krismono Adjie, said that tourist destinations such as Taman Pintar, Keraton, Tamansari and Gembira Loka Zoo are expected to remain popular tourist spots. This is in addition to the public spaces in Yogyakarta City that usually serve as tourist gathering places, such as the Zero Kilometer Point area, Tugu, Malioboro, and Kotabaru.
