TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Taman Sari Police Chief, Senior Commissioner of Police Riyanto, revealed that the suspected source of the fire at Glodok Plaza came from the ninth floor warehouse. "According to the witness's statement, the first person to see the source of the fire was from the ninth floor, which is also suspected to be a warehouse," said Riyanto at Glodok Plaza on Monday, January 20, 2025.

Although the source of the fire is suspected to be on the ninth floor, the police have not been able to access the ninth floor. This is because the rubble of the collapsed building, much of the roof from the ninth floor fell to the eighth floor. "So the forensic lab team itself has not been able to enter the suspected first source of the fire," said Riyanto.

In addition, the police are currently focusing on combing through the rubble from the seventh, eighth, and ninth floors so that all access can be opened and the Crime Scene Processing (TKP) can be carried out. "So that it can be evacuated and authorized friends can enter the intended point," said Riyanto.

Riyanto said that until now the structure of the building on the seventh to eighth floors is still stable, only the ninth floor is considered worrying. "From the sides of the ninth floor," he said. Because, the building on the ninth floor had collapsed so that the material fell to the eighth floor. "The material is also very large so it is impossible for us to carry it intact," said Riyanto.

The fire at Glodok Plaza occurred on Wednesday night, January 15, 2025. In this tragic incident, nine people survived and were evacuated that night. After the fire was extinguished on Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2025, the firefighters began cooling the area and found the bodies of the victims. As of Sunday, January 19, 2025, eight body bags had been successfully evacuated. Until now, 14 people from the victim's family have come to the Glodok Plaza fire post and recorded their family members who were declared missing in the fire incident.
