TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts thunderstorms in most major cities in Indonesia today, Thursday, December 5, 2024.
The weather forecast was conveyed by BMKG forecaster Pramudhian Firdaus through its YouTube channel on December 4, as quoted by Antara.
In Sumatra Island, Pekanbaru City is predicted to be heavily cloudy, while Banda Aceh and Padang are expecting a drizzle. "Caution is needed for Medan City and Tanjung Pinang, where thunderstorms are forecasted,” he said.
Jambi, Bengkulu, and Lampung are forecasted to have some light rain, but thunderstorms are expected in Pangkal Pinang and Palembang.
On Java Island, Jakarta and Serang are predicted to be moistened by a drizzle, and BMKG forecasts Yogyakarta with heavy rain. Pramudhian said, "Caution is needed for Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya, which are predicted to have thunderstorms."
In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Denpasar City is predicted to have moderate rain, while Kupang and Mataram have the potential for thunderstorms.
BMKG also forecasts drizzles in Samarinda and Palangkaraya, which will be moderate rain. In other parts of Kalimantan, residents in Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, and Banjarmasin are urged to be vigilant of the possibility of thunderstorms.
Thick clouds will cover Gorontalo City in Sulawesi, while rainfall is expected in Manado and Palu. Thunderstorms are expected in Mamuju, Makassar, and Kendari.
The weather forecast in Maluku and Papua lists drizzly Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya, while rainfall will sweep over Nabire and Merauke. BMKG forecasts Ambon City with thunderstorms.
According to BMKG’s weather forecast, the air temperature in Indonesia generally ranges from 16 to 33 degrees Celsius, with air humidity ranging from 56 to 99 percent.
