TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two construction workers who died during the demolition of a building in southwest Japan have been identified as a 23-year-old Indonesian intern and a 41-year-old Japanese man, according to local police, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, as reported by Kyodo and cited by Antara.

The technical intern trainee named Sakti Rahmadani Saputro and Yoshinori Yoshitani, believed to be the field manager, died from suffocation and multiple traumatic injuries in the building collapse incident in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Tuesday.

Around 1:40 p.m. local time on Tuesday, authorities were informed about the collapse of the two-story unoccupied building that had been vacant for 10 years.

Three construction workers were successfully evacuated from the rubble, and two of them were later pronounced dead in the incident.

Police will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the building collapse, while the local labor standards inspection office will investigate the incident as a work-related accident.
